Mumtaz Usmen, associate dean for research and previously chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been appointed interim dean of the Wayne State University College of Engineering. The appointment, announced by WSU President Jay Noren, is effective Aug. 19. Usmen succeeds Ralph Kummler, who will return to the classroom after a sabbatical.
