A memorial golf outing held on Sept. 11 for Lara Rutan generated more than $30,000. The money will go toward a scholarship endowment at Wayne State University, where Rutan graduated a few months prior to her death in a traffic crash in Clinton Township. Rutan, 25, of Grosse Pointe, was president of her physician’s assistant program class, and just passed her certification test.
