Congressman Gary Peters and advocates gathered on Tuesday at Wayne State University’s Oakland Center in Farmington Hills for a press conference to urge support for legislation that will prevent Stafford loan rates from doubling. The interest rate on the government-backed loans is set to double July 1, to 6.8 percent.
