Thirty companies and government organizations are coming to the first ever WSU Biology, Geology & Environmental Science Career Fair looking for part-time, summer, volunteer and full-time employees. The fair will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in WSU’s McGregor Memorial Conference Center.
Organizations attending the event include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, USGS Great Lakes Science Center, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Macomb County and Oakland County Health Departments, and more. International and local environmental companies participating in the event include AMEC, Arcadis, CH2M-Hill, Golder & Associates, ArchEnv Group, AKT Peerless and Derenzo and Associates. Duluth Metals Exploration, Detroit Geothermal LLC, the Clinton River Watershed Council, WSU College of Education (Woodrow Wilson Fellowship) and WSU Career Services round out the participants, producing a wide spectrum of opportunities for both students and alumni attending the event.
The career fair, sponsored by WSU’s Departments of Biological Sciences and Geology, was initiated by Dr. Ed van Hees to assist WSU’s students and alumni in Biology, Geology & Environmental Science who want to gain real world experience in their chosen disciplines. The goal of the fair is to help students and alumni become better prepared to enter industry, graduate sooner and/or inspire them to attend graduate school.
