Deadline to nominate for Marshall Memorial Fellowship is Sept. 29

August 27, 2014

Nominations for the Marshall Memorial Fellowship (MMF) will be accepted online through 5 p.m. Sept. 29. Nominations are welcome from faculty and directors, professionals and community leaders and MMF alumni. Self-nominations are not accepted.

The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is a non-partisan American public policy and grantmaking institution dedicated to promoting better understanding and cooperation between North America and Europe on transatlantic and global issues. The MMF is its flagship leadership development program and a unique opportunity for emerging leaders. Wayne State was selected by the Kresge Foundation to work with GMF as a regional selection partner. Through this alliance, administrators from the university’s Office of Educational Outreach and International Programs facilitate the process of recruiting and selecting Detroit candidates, who primarily live or work in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

Nominees for the MMF must demonstrate leadership capacity and creativity; a commitment to diversity; a desire to effect lasting change in their local communities; a commitment to transatlantic and global engagement, and remaining a steward of the transatlantic agenda throughout their careers.

Candidates must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or one of the European countries listed on the GMF website as a current selection site; between the ages of 28 and 40 on Oct. 6; fluent in English; and available for 24 consecutive days of travel in either October 2015 or April 2016.
