August 8, 2014

The Perseid meteor shower, one of the brightest meteor showers of the year, is set to peak this Sunday through Wednesday, Aug 10-13. This shower is named after the constellation Perseus, due to its direction in the sky. This particular shower is very popular because at its peak, viewers can see up to 100 meteors per hour.

Wayne State University Physics and Astronomy Professor David Corliss is available to discuss the unique event and to share sky-watching tips to help you fully enjoy this popular Perseid meteor shower.

To arrange an interview, call Anna Harden at 586-495-0121 or email harde2am@gmail.com.
