Wayne State University School of Business Administration presents free accounting career workshop for Michigan college studentsAugust 6, 2014
The Wayne State University School of Business Administration will host a free workshop on planning coursework to suit a career in accounting on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 4-5:30 p.m. at State Hall, 5143 Cass Avenue. The workshop is open to WSU students as well as students from area community colleges and universities.
The workshop will cover the different career opportunities available in accounting and auditing, requirements for professional certification exams, courses students should take, and how to find a job in the field. This event is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring or considering majoring in accounting. Freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to attend.
Presenters include Myles Stern, chair of WSU’s Department of Accounting; Randy Paschke, chair of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and director of external relations and community engagement in WSU’s School of Business Administration; and Emily Kravetz, director of the WSU School of Business Administration’s Career Planning and Placement Office. There will also be a practitioner panel of representatives from public accounting, internal auditing and management accounting, who will describe careers in their specialties and answer questions.
“The field of accounting offers excellent salaries and great opportunities for advancement; however, many accounting students don’t properly plan their academic programs to maximize their likelihood of successfully landing a job in accounting,” Stern said. “This workshop will provide the information you need.”
This event is free but registration is required. To register, email email@example.com, put “coursework” in the subject line, and include your full name and a preferred email address and phone number in the body of the email. You may also register by calling the WSU Department of Accounting at 313-577-4530. When you call, ask to register for the coursework meeting.
