Wayne State University observing Hispanic Heritage Month with series of events
August 17, 2009Wayne State University and the Center for Chicano-Boricua Studies (CBS)are commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month, running from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, with a series of events ranging from films and lectures, to a festival and a gala fundraising dinner.
Hispanic Heritage Month, observed yearly between September 15 and October 15, marks the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries-Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico declared its independence on Sept. 16 and Chile on Sept. 18.
