Farai Chideya to guest host on “The Takeaway,” airing mornings on WDET-FM

March 3, 2009 (Detroit, MI) - Wondering where you can find the brilliant and accessible social + political analysis of FARAI CHIDEYA now that NPR's News & Notes is ending?

For three weeks - from Monday, March 2- Friday, March, 20 -- she's back on public radio as a guest host on THE TAKEAWAY with John Hockenberry and Adaora Udoji, public radio's new live morning drive news program. The Takeaway airs weekdays from 8 - 10 AM on WDET-FM, the Detroit public radio station owned and operated by Wayne State University.

Farai Chideya is a multimedia journalist who has worked in print, television, online, and radio. Chideya founded PopAndPolitics.com in 1995, which is now one of the longest continuously operating blogs in the world. From 2006 to early 2009, she hosted NPR's News and Notes, a daily national program about African-American and African diaspora issues. Chideya has also been a correspondent for ABC News, anchored the prime time program Pure Oxygen on the Oxygen women's channel, and contributed commentaries to CNN, Fox, MSNBC, and BET. She has written three nonfiction books: "Trust: Reaching the 100 Million Missing Voters" (2004), "The Color of Our Future" (2000) and "Don't Believe the Hype: Fighting Cultural Misinformation About African Americans" (1995), and the novel "Kiss the Sky" (2009).
